FAQ - Exams: Specific Questions about Tasks

The First Exam: Rosemont

Stage 5. I have no money and no plants, what do I do? Start the day. Kill the pests. Until you buy a plant, you will receive one coin for each pest killed by you or Robin.


The Second Exam: Port Arrowhead

Stage 3. What does Farmer Dell want? He won’t take my flowers. You need to give Farmer Dell plants, not flowers.

Stage 4. Why can’t I buy more water? This is a test of water conservation. What you start with is what you get. Plan accordingly.


The Third Exam: Hilo Island

Stage 3. Do I really need to save the pineapple? Yes, as of V1.023. No pineapple, no passing grade.

Stage 3. Where are the crabs? I don’t see any. Do a clean reinstall of the game to a different directory and restart the stage. You won’t lose your saved game.

Stage 5. I can’t do anything. Is this a glitch? No. This one is for Robin. Be sure to give him some treats.


The Fourth Exam: Shadow Glen

Pre-Exam What happens if I pay Curt a bribe in order to skip the exam? You have to raise a lot of money! Ask yourself this ... do you really think you can trust Curt? But go for it if you want to. I won’t tell the Headmaster.

Stage 1. I don’t have any baskets to collect the flowers so I can’t raise money. Is this a glitch? What do I do? There is something else you can sell, something that takes some cultivation but can be worth a lot of money . . . hope that's enough of a hint.

Stage 3. Where are the yeti? I don’t see any. Do a clean reinstall of the game to a different directory and restart the stage. You won’t lose your saved game.

Stage 5. I have all 10 plants, why won't Curt take them? Make sure you have V1.023. This was a glitch in V1.022.

I am will add more as they crop up, but I think these answer the most recurring questions.

question, i have saved 30 pineapples and cannot find how to give them.. any ideas? by the way its the 2nd upgrade pineapples if anyone knows what im talking about

I believe the task you are talking about requires 30 of the green pineapples (stage 1). Once collected you go back to the chief and "talk" to him.

You might want to check the version you have. Some earlier versions had bugs that caused problems completing tasks.

Curt Reaper says I have to collect 100 ghost weights AND save the 3 flame plants.
There are just too many ghosts which keep on coming. There is no way I can kill them quick enough.
Help! - any ideas?

re previous post, I think this is exam number 5, the one after doning the one where you have to collect 60 fiery crystals.

Exam 3B - Exam 3A is about collecting yeti sticks and in Exam 3B you've got to collect ghost weights, but you should have Curt's sword.

I haven't played this game for a few months, so I can't remember the details anymore. So, please, be patient if memory doesn't serve me.
As far as I can remember you have got three plants and have to protect them without Robin.
Try to focus on fighting the ghosts. You don't have to water the plants as soon as the waterdrops appear and there is no need to harvest at all. - Unless you need a few coins to purchase water.
So click on the ghost like mad. You will pick up some of the weights that way. Your main task is killing the ghosts, NOT picking up the weights, so don't stop fighting them just to pick up one weight.
If memory serves me, each time you start the exam (you can restart it anytime by talking to Curt) the plants are at a different location. Restart the exam until all the plants are on the right side of the screen, near the pond, so that it takes longer for the ghosts to reach your plants.
Have a look at the weather forecast, in the upper right corner of the screen. If it shows a sunny day, without clouds, play one day on the fourth farm (not taking an exam), so that the image shows a rainy or cloudy sky at the end of the day. That way, the plants will need less water.
