Won't load errors

I installed the finished magic farm ultimate and it won't work on my computer. Even changed my settings to 800 x 600 and 16 bit instead of 32 but I just get the flashing black screen and then error messages. I just got a new monitor and thought maybe that had something to do with it but I can still play the older version of it that I was using when beta testing it with no problems. Any ideas ? I have all my drivers etc updated in the past week as I had to reinstall windows so went after that and updated everything. Can't think of anything else to try unless it's the vista home premium service pack 2 causing problems ?
